Defining Ourselves

  • The Curtain Scrutton Street (Members Entrance) London, EC2A 3PT United Kingdom (map)

For our third event we will be exploring and discussing the power of language and how we choose to self-identify.

Is mixed-race a relevant term anymore? Do we do ourselves a disservice when we label ourselves?

Join us to seek answers in the company of our guest Amani Saeed, a fierce spoken word artist whose identity is multi-faceted being a mixed race, Muslim, queer woman. Amani (who is of Indian and Iraqi heritage) will be doing a short reading and sharing with us the journey she has been on to reconcile her many identities.

The event will be held on Tuesday 3rd September at The Curtain in Shoreditch.

Doors will open at 7pm and the event will kick off at 7:30pm.
